SimShaker - Wheels beta version 2.39 published

Hi guys,
new in this beta version:
  • Added checkbox "Sound Card Exclusive Control" in Audio Parameters group.
  • Exclusive control over the sound card by default is now disabled. You may want to enable it back again, since it may reduce latency in the sound card.
  • Activation form minor improvements made: prevention of extra activation spent when Activate button is double clicked; auto trimming of the key field content trailing and leading white spaces.
  • Game Mode Selection added to Advanced Tab. By default it's set to "Auto".
  • rFactor-wise games (rFactor 1/2, AMS, Stock Car Extreme): Wheel Slip/Wear effect  is re-factored to process all 4 wheels data in order to provide better accuracy. Currently it's called 4 Tire Wear effect. See also this my post.
  • Project CARS 1/2: added 4 Tire Wear effect, based on 4 wheels telemetry data processing. Legacy Wheel Slip* effect is still available. I'm not sure you will want to have both effects simultaneously, I suggest you should make a choice and adjust your setting.
Let's give it a shot!

* - for this effect telemetry data inside SSW is still processed by sides, i.e. left side wheels data combined and right side wheels data combined.

SimShaker - Wheels beta version 2.38 published

Hi guys,

First of all, please, pay attention to the post below, regarding some Windows 10 April 2018 update issue and the way to overcome it.

New in this beta version:
1) A Tire Wear effect, based on 4 wheels telemetry data processing, added for RRRE instead of Wheel Slip/Wear effect. This is actually my first step towards 4 wheels telemetry data processing. (As you may know, currently most wheels related telemetry data inside SSW is processed by sides, i.e. left side wheels data combined and right side wheels data combined. )
I've selected RRRE as a first game to implement this effect since RRRE has a very accurate physics, a decent set of telemetry data and it's free-to-play, which allows everyone easily try the new effect out. I've temporarily designated the effect as "4 Tire Wear (RRRE)" to make accent on its nature and availability yet in RRRE only.

Correspondence between the car wheels and vibration zones by default:

JetSeat
1 - left front wheel
2 - right front wheel
3, 5 - left rear wheel
4, 6 - right rear wheel

1 bass-shaker mode
ch 1 - all 4 wheels

2 bass-shakers mode
ch 1 - left front wheel,  left rear wheel
ch 2  - right front wheel,  left rear wheel

6 bass-shakers mode
ch 1 - left front wheel
ch 2 - right front wheel
ch 5  - left rear wheel
ch 6  - right rear wheel

As always, a default pattern can be changed by editing samples, as described in SimShaker - Wheels User Guide. For this effect I used samples with symbolic names "l-front-wear","r-front-wear","l-rear-wear","r-rear-wear".

This new Tire Wear effect replaces old Wheel Slip/Wear effect in case of playing RRRE.

2) A Rumble Strips effect added for iRacing. The effect is based on Rumble Strips tone data provided by the game.

3) An error in Curbs & Bumpy Terrains enable/disable control is fixed for Project CARS1/2 and rFactor2/AMS.

Let's test it out. Looking forward for your feedback in our Facebook SimShaker-Wheels project group.

A Windows 10 April 2018 Update issue blocks SimShaker software to start after update. What to do?

Edit: currently that bug seems to be already fixed in Windows since summer 2018.

Hi guys,
looks like updated Windows 10  has a bug in its Windows Defender Smart Screen treatment of ClickOnce type applications, which SimShakers belong to. Instead of warning a user it just blocks an application.

Today, after updating SimShaker for Aviators beta version the application stopped working.
In spite of  protecting my PC with Avast, but not Windows Defender, I had to go to Windows Defender Security Center, select App & browser control section and temporarily switch Check app and files option from Warn to Off in order to solve the problem. At the next attempt of starting  SimShaker I got the warning window and was able to permit the application to start. I also unchecked "Always ask..." box at warning window to prevent the application from the following checks.

After restoring security Check app and files option back from Off  to Warn SimShaker still was able to start.

To see if your computer is affected by the issue, please, go to Windows settings and look for Windows 10 version installed
